Join me on the Bridge for a walk for peace is a global campaign led by Women for Women International (WfWI) in celebration of International Women’s Day, March 8. On this day, tens of thousands of people will gather on bridges throughout the world to demonstrate that women can build the BRIDGES of PEACE and, further, that there can be no sustainable peace unless the voices of women are heard.

Our 2011 Join me on the Bridge campaign is our second annual and is of particular significance as it marks the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. This year our campaign focus is on Afghanistan, a country that is now working to define its future but where women are excluded from taking part in the process. Our aim is to raise global awareness of their plight and of the need for Afghan women to play a full part in building the bridges of peace for their future.

Some of my sisters I have sponsored in Afghanistan and Democratic Republic of the Congo and the letters they have written me. These women are so dear to me.

I believe strongly in Women for Women International. I have sponsored women for five years. For $27 a month you can sponsor a woman with tremendous struggles in war torn countries. This woman goes through a program that teaches her about her rights and provides her with a skill to support herself and her family.
I would love to raise $500 to help support the great work Women for Women International does and to benefit more women. If you would like to donate, I am grateful! You will make a difference to better someone’s life and better the world. One of the best ways to get out of our own suffering is to help someone else. I have always known through the struggles and suffering in my life that it was minimal in comparison to what these women go through. When financial times were hard, no matter what, I still found money to give for these women. I live in a country with human rights. I can be who I want to be. It is so easy to take this for granted. There is a strong movement for HUMAN RIGHTS. Join the movement and do something to create a better world. I Thank You!
