Bentonite Clay Hair Mask

Bentonite clay has been used for hair growth by traditional cultures for many years. Learn more about bentonite for hair growth here. Make this nourishing, clarifying, hair strengthening and softening bentonite clay hair mask. Watch the video below for tips.

This hair mask is Amazing! The results on the hair are immediate, silky, shiny and soft with more body. The combination of coconut vinegar, oat milk and bentonite clay is a synergy that works wonders on the hair and scalp. After I do this hair mask I feel renewed, relaxed and my hair is shiny, soft and full of body.

The pH of this mask supports the hair. The hair likes acidity and pH 5 is a perfect match for hair. The coconut vinegar and oat milk are acidic and these reduce the high pH 8.5-10.5 of bentonite. Oat milk also contains some protein, vitamins and minerals that strengthen and nourish the hair plus provides a nice slip on the hair. It is said hair loss can be due to a deficiency in potassium. Coconut vinegar contains potassium, maybe try adding a splash to your smoothie or eat a banana for a potassium boost.

How to Make Bentonite Hair Mask

Mask pH 5

Small Batch for Short/Medium Length and/or Thin Hair
1/4 cup bentonite clay (I sourced mine from Mountain Rose Herbs)
1 1/2 tablespoons coconut vinegar (my favorite is Coconut Secret vinegar or use apple cider vinegar)
4 tablespoons oat milk (or water)
1/8 teaspoon – 1/2 tablespoon plant oil (optional – I used baobab oil from Mountain Rose Herbs, try walnut oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil or other oil)

Larger Batch For Long and/or Thick Hair
1/2 cup bentonite clay (I sourced mine from Mountain Rose Herbs)
3 tablespoons coconut vinegar (this is my favorite Coconut Secret coconut vinegar or use apple cider vinegar)
8 tablespoons oat milk (or water)
1/4 teaspoon – 1 tablespoon plant oil (optional – I used baobab oil from Mountain Rose Herbs, try walnut oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil or other oil)

Combine all ingredients and mix until well hydrated and the desired consistency you want.

How to Apply:

Apply to damp hair. Spritz hair with water or hydrosol until damp. Part hair into sections, take some mask with your fingers and glide it onto the hair, from your roots to your ends. Apply mask onto your scalp and hair on the sides of your face. Cover the hair with a shower cap to seal in moisture. It’s also fine to not wear a cap as there is a lot of moisture in this mask.

Allow the mask to set on hair for about 20 – 30 minutes. In the shower, thoroughly rinse mask out of hair, shampoo and condition your hair. Be amazed at the sparkle and vibrancy in your hair.

Do a mask hair treatment about once a month.
