I have used so many products from top brands only to end up disappointed. I was looking for a product that would leave my high porosity hair moisturized, detangled, frizz free with a nice sheen. I didn’t know that the leave in conditioner that I was searching for, I had to make myself. This formula is a must in any hair care line. It is lightweight which makes it suitable for any hair type and performs well. Joan goes through the handout, ingredients, shows how to make it by hand when doing a sample batch and also gives a demonstration using equipment. I had no problems putting this formula together.

I love all the lab classes and this one was no exception. However, this particular class challenged me so I had to go back through the lesson to see what it was that I was missing. What I valued most from this class is that Joan made herself available to me to personally walk me through the procedure. She told me that If I were having a problem, that means that other people may also be having the same problem and she would go through the formulation to see if she needed to make any changes. She immediately assumed responsibility. That is the definition of a true Mentor, not automatically assuming that you as the student did something wrong and make you feel bad. We walked through the procedure together and I finally got the formula correct and learned what I needed to do to make the formula work for me. I took this class due to the unavailability and backorders of the vegan leave-in product that I use. The leave-in product of this class can be customized according to the hair type. It is an emulsion, I decided to make few trials with minor changes in the formulation. The finished product can be compared with the product that I paid in my country ($38 + 11.5% tax). If your favorite vegan leave-in is not available, you can take this class to make it by yourself.
