Chocolate Lip Gloss Recipe
Makes 3-4 tiny lip pots
3 teaspoons melted cocoa butter
1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil
3-6 semisweet chocolate chips (I like a hint of chocolate and use 3 chips, 6 chips adds a darker color with more chocolate flavor)
Directions
1. Melt all ingredients together on low heat just until melted.
2. Pour mixture into lip pots.
3. Allow lip gloss to firm.
4. Cap
To Use:
Apply lip gloss to lips as often as you want.
It’s best to use the lip gloss within 6 months – 1 year.
This is an edible lip gloss and children friendly.
how long will they last? Can I add tea tree oil to make them last a bit longer?
Hi Iris,
These will last about two years. I wouldn’t add tea tree essential oil to them. You can always add a few drops of Vitamin E oil.
Hi what can I replaced the coconut with? In my country the coconut will surely melt. Thanks
Try a firmer butter like shea butter or mango butter or you can add some cocoa butter to it.
Hi, can you pour this into lip balm tubes or does it work best in the pots?
Hi Karen,
I did try some lip balm tubes and the mixture leaked out of the bottom of the tube before it hardened. I then let the mixture thicken a bit and then poured it into the tubes and it worked.
