What is a hair serum?

Hair serum is luxurious and nutrient rich. It protects the hair from heat styling and environmental issues.

Hair Serum

  • Seals the cuticle
  • Nourishes
  • Creates silkiness and slip
  • Adds shine
  • Protects from humidity, the environment and heat styling
  • Smoothes hair
  • Controls frizz

Most hair serums on the market are made with dimethicone. Dimethicone is not approved as a natural ingredient. It is hard to replicate that same silky soft feel dimethicone imparts in hair serums with plant based ingredients. The serum formulas I formulated for the Pro Hair Course, Straightening & Smoothing Styling Serum and Oil-Free Glossy Locks & Curls Serum, are packed with all kinds of hair nutrients and very similar to serums with dimethicone.

Hair serums can be oil serums or water based serums. They may contain nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, plant keratin, plant silicone and UVA protectants.

Oil based serums work well for textured hair, coarse hair, curly hair and kinky hair. Oil serums nurture, protect and shine to the hair.

Water based serums are great for all hair types. They are lighter than the oil serums, have a gel-like consistency and have a silky feel to them.

How to Use Hair Serum:

Massage a few drops of serum onto your fingertips or palms and apply throughout damp or dry hair. Style the hair as desired.

To use as a finisher, apply a few drops to dry hair and ends of hair to add shine and reduce frizz.
