The 2017 Lavender Festivals. Lavender festivals start in June and the beginning of July. They are so much fun. The scent of lavender is intoxicating and brings such joy. The lavender festival is the place to see all the different varieties of lavender grown and purchase unique lavender varieties. I have several varieties in my garden I purchased at the festivals. At some festivals, you can cut your own lavender, make lavender wands, listen to music and try samples of lavender lemonade and cookies.
If you come home with lots of fresh lavender, it is easy to dry. To dry lavender, put the stalks with the flower buds in a brown paper bag or bunch the stalks together, rubber band them at the bottom and hang them upside down in a dark and dry place.
